S+J traveled literally halfway around the world to get married. They journeyed for nearly 24 consecutive hours from Australia to Lake Louise, Canada, to have a beautiful and legal celebration of their genuine and tender love. And why Canada? Because of all the places they could have went, it’s the least like Australia!

Theirs was one of the most intimate weddings we have ever documented, with a total guest list of 9 (including the two of us photographing the day, and one baby). Surrounded by mountains and snow, overlooking a frozen Lake Louise, they exchanged the sweetest vows in front of their closest family. At the end of the night, with the temperatures dropping, everyone cuddled together for a twilight sleigh ride around Lake Louise, singing Australian road songs all the way to keep warm!

Rebecca and Kevin were attached at the lips all day… every time we looked over they were smoochin’! It was like they just couldn’t hold in the pure elation for one of the very best days of their lives. And they got to share it all with Rebecca’s daughter Kate, who brought equal parts responsible adult and curious child into her role as Maid of Honor. The party was celebrated at Off the Grid with delicious burritos courtesy of Freebirds, which is where Rebecca and Kevin first met!

We’ve been friends with Jenn and Josh for nearly a decade, and Jenn was the maid of honor at our wedding almost 5 years ago. It gives us enormous joy to document their relationship and to be photographing their wedding in Houston this October (which happens to be our own anniversary month).

Monica’s silly choreographed dance with her father was second to none, and the ensuing party didn’t disappoint either! Monica and Garrett’s friends and family showed an outpouring of love and support and celebration all night, which truly made it feel like two lives wholly joining together.

Emily and Zach were never shy about showing us their affection, playfulness, and adoration with each other. Photographing their engagement session was really just like hanging out with old friends.

Theresa and Matt’s day was full of tenderness, excitement for marriage and life together, and pure joy. They lit up at each other’s presence, they tended to and cared for each other, and they danced like no one was around.

At the old T&P Station in Fort Worth, Theresa and Matt carried out a Vietnamese tradition where the newlyweds visit the tables at the reception, and one representative from each table gives advice on marriage and comes up with a silly game or challenge for the couple to undertake… and the challenges tend to involve either drinking or kissing!

In between a beach wedding in Montauk and an engagement session in New York City, we had a week to explore New York for ourselves. We spent a few days in Manhattan, where we filled our hearts at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and then filled our brains at the Museum of Natural History, and most importantly, filled our stomachs with all the amazing vegan restaurants throughout the city, and then walked it all off in Central Park with the most perfect weather (which of course led to a nap in Central Park).

Mid-week we took a break to slow down and drove upstate to Ithaca and Watkins Glen to visit the beautiful Cornell campus and stay a night at the Farm Sanctuary B&B. We woke up on the farm to roosters crowing (after waking up to horns honking all week) and enjoyed a personal tour among the gentle animals with new little friends from Canada.
