A pocketwatch, soul mates, and a fever
(part one here) The third day, out of four, that we spent with Amber and Rahil was packed full of events and ceremonies. Rahil started off by picking Amber up from her family’s home, where he was offered a sweet milky drink, and then presented with his soon-to-be wife. Together they rode to their official ceremony called the Nikkah (where, unfortunately, photography is unwelcome). After that was the Khoba Khobi at Old Red. This was a very fun and light-hearted (and competitive!) event, where the couple first crossed the threshold into married life together, dug for a tiny coin in a basket of roses, then fought to wrestle the coin from each other’s grasp, and then tried to persuade the other to give in more for a sip of milk. And then finally, their reception/dance party highlighted with many moving speeches from friends and family.
