What you wear and how you prepare will make a huge difference in your pictures.
Where to Go
- ›› Think of places that are special to you two: where you met, where you went on your first date, a place you frequently visit, or maybe there's a place you've driven by and both said, "wouldn't it be great to take a picture there!"
- ›› Any location can work. Don't worry about other people, the weather, or what we might say. If you think it sounds weird or absurd, we're going to love it.
How to Dress
- ›› Think about the overall look(s) you want your session to have. Find inspiration in film, magazines, or Google for ideas about how to express your vision.
- ›› Bring at least two outfits. Even better, bring ten, and we can help you sort out the best options.
- ›› Shop local second hand stores for unique outfits and good prices.
- ›› Solid colors are supposed to be the rule, but we don't care. Wear clashing patterns if you want, do something fun!
- ›› Uncomfortable shoes are sometimes the best looking choice, unfortunately. Bring a pair of flip-flops for relief while we are walking around.
- ›› Ladies will almost always win with a dress of any sort.
- ›› Guys of every shape and style look great in vests.
- ›› Make your attire considerations one of your top priorities. This has a huge impact on the final appearance of your images. When you look at ads in magazines, they are appealing not only because there was great photography, lighting, and direction. But also because the characters are all styled very well.

What to Bring
- ›› Props are always fun, and we encourage you to bring anything you can think up, especially if it is significant to you emotionally, culturally, or otherwise. But it doesn't have to be something so personal, it can just be interesting or different. If you think it sounds weird or absurd, we're going to love it!
- ›› Consider hobbies or interests you both share, things you do together, or even just something fun and quirky laying around the house.
- ›› Even if you can't think of anything at all (which we probably won't believe, but just in case) at least pick up some fresh market flowers or a few balloons on your way to the shoot.
- ›› Towels are encouraged if you are prone to sweating, especially for guys in the warmer months. We generally do our engagement shoots outdoors or around town for the most natural photos, and the Texas summer seems to last for six months. So don't be afraid to bring something that you can use to wipe your face off with every now and then. You'll feel a lot better, and your pictures will benefit as well!
- ›› Children and dogs are welcome, and we absolutely love both. Please make sure to bring a family member or friend to watch over them when they aren't involved with the pictures though.
- ›› Most importantly, bring your love for each other, and an open mind.
